Rob Cutforth, cover boy
2008-04-03
Well the newest issue of LeftLion is out and they did in fact cut my column on the Tales of Robin Hood BOO! However, they ran my interview with Tony, the Gothic Plumber instead YAY!. Rob White did an excellent drawing of old Tony:

They also kept my fat melon on the cover, even though it still has the Tales of Robin Hood on it... It's pretty cool actually, I've never been caricatured before, they even put an Oilers jersey on me... SWEET. (sidenote: I know the Oilers have been knocked out of playoff contention, and it was Calgary that did the knocking... don't get me started). Anyways, the cover:

It has come to my attention that some of you people outside of Nottingham didn't realise I wrote for a proper arts paper and that many of you think LeftLion was just a blog thing. Well here's the proof that it is a proper paper -- There's even an interview with Public Enemy in it! I'm bona-fide, bitches!
In other news, BBC Nottingham contacted Tony (my Gothic Plumber) and told him they loved the article and are going to interview him on air. I hope they at least mention the article. I'll try to get a recording of it if I can.
So where's the article? you ask. I can't put it into the blog until the weekend as per LeftLion LAW. Let Allah rain down a million sorry's upon you. I'll put it up here Saturday.
In other news, LeftLion canned their music editor and are looking for people to review gigs, so Al (editor guy) said I can go to any gig I am interested in and do an article on it. It would be really sweet except for the fact that I am a grumpy old bastard, I hate crowds and despise everything in the charts...
I was actually talking to a group of young fellas the other day in a pub when the DJ played "Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden. I said "Oh my god, I love Soundgarden!" They looked at me and said "Who's Soundgarden?" Egad, I am an old, old man. Keep an eye out for "The Geriatric guide to the Nottingham Music scene" in upcoming issues of LeftLion. If my arthritis can hack it, that is.
