MEDIA EXTRAVAGANZA!
2008-11-21
Right, so I have finally figured out how to:
- Get video and audio files off my phone and;
- Upload said video files to youtube.
I can't wait to start getting some youtube style comments like "sO FAKE!!11 UR so gay LOLZZZZZ!!!!!111
Before I get into that though, let me give you a quick update as I have not put an update in here in ages.
Yes, I have got a new job (YAY), yes it's in the public sector (DOUBLE YAY) and yes it is in Manchester (BOO). We are in the process of letting our place out in Nottingham and am in Manchester 3 days a week. So, you can expect a lot more activity in this blog and it will probably contain a fair amount of Manc-bashing (I've already dropped a C-Bomb on one of its residents). Watch this space.
THE VIDEOS:
Heavy Load play Wychwood festival last summer
Heavy Load are Britain's only disabled punk band. This gig was filmed for their documentary. The drummer has Down's syndrome and the singer kept forgetting to sing. The guitarist would slap him in the shoulder every now and again to remind him to keep singing. It was awesome. Obviously, this shit vid does not do them justice, there are much better ones on youtube from this same gig. If you ever get the chance to see them, you must take it.
My first English derby match. Sheffield Wednesday v Sheffield United at Hillsborough
This video shows the start of the match as the players were introduced. The emphatic BOOS you hear when the United players are announced are care of my buddy Boot. Nobody Boos quite like him.
Highlights include singing DIE DIE PIGGY PIGGY DIE! to the United fans. Before the match, United fans had taken over a Wednesday pub. About 8 million policemen had to keep the Wednesday fans from going in and kicking off. Wednesday got their revenge on the pitch where they won 2-1. It was a good day.
Chas and Dave at the Maze
This is the cheeky video I took for my LeftLion review of their gig. Packed into a tiny venue with sweaty, drunken cockneys, I lead a glamourous life, I do.
I'm not sure this is legal, I'll probably have the YouTube DRM Thought Police after me, but hey.
Mr John Murphy at Heavy Metal Karaoke at Sal's
This is some footage I took when I went undercover to do some research for my NOTTINGHAM ROCK TOUR article. It was meant to be in the next issue, but LeftLion are printing my Tales of Robin Hood article this time around instead. Yes, you heard right. They weren't going to print it because they thought it was part owned by the City (who are a very big advertiser in LL). Turns out, some skeezy dude who owns a string of strip joints in Mansfield is the actual owner, so TORH is officially fair game.
The Nottingham Rock Tour column will be in the following issue (if LeftLion will still have me).
THE AUDIO
The following audio files are of my interview with my Gothic Plumber, my Gothic Plumber on BBC Radio Nottingham and my most recent appearance on BBC Radio Nottingham as well. (My next one is on Dec 6th) check iPlayer the following day if you want to hear it.
Sorry for the incredibly shit quality, I recorded it off the radio with my shitty little recorder. Aw, I felt like a twelve year old kid again taping stuff off the radio... bless
Also, probably totally illegal. C'est la vie

I read the papers on BBC Radio Nottingham
God, I sound a right fucking hick. I have got to stop giggling maniacally in these things.
